Medical History Forms
Dental Xrays And Tooth Photographs
Dental X-rays are necessary for the dentist to evaluate the teeth, jaw bones, and joints.
The first x-ray taken is called a panoramic. Our staff will guide you into the machine where you stand still while the machine moves around your head. This x-ray is important for evaluating the jaw bones and joints. Early detection of not-painful infections and malignancies such as cancer can be caught early on with this x-ray.
The next X-rays are called bitewing and periapical X-rays. These close-up images show teeth and cavities with much greater detail than the panoramic x-ray. We take these X-rays every 6 months to monitor existing fillings and check for any new cavities that may have formed.
Lastly, a small camera is used to take pictures of your teeth for your education and for future insurance claim purposes.
Dental Exam
After the medical history and dental xrays have been completed, Dr. Sutherland can complete a thorough examination. She will then discuss any findings on the xrays and photographs.
This is a great time to have a discussion about any of your concerns, oral health goals and cosmetic wishes.
Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride Foam Treatment
After your teeth have been cleaned, fluoride foam is placed in a soft tray. The foam will sit on your teeth for 1 minute. Fluoride has been proven be the most beneficial treatment for strengthening teeth, preventing cavities and decreasing tooth sensitivity.
After fluoride treatment is completed, it is recommended to not eat or drink for 30 minutes.
